How to Choose a Juice Cleanse & Why

Detoxification is one of the many natural processes that our bodies perform. Since we are what we eat, we need to look further than our common meals instead we need to discover why and how our foods are grown, processed and cooked.  Often we have a difficult time clearing out ingested toxins which might include: pesticides, chemicals and a long list of preservatives, such as: BHA, potassium aluminum sulphate, etc. The body’s storage of harmful substances is largely responsible for today’s chronic symptoms, including:  fatigue, cognitive delays, inflammation, bloating, headaches, and gastrointestinal discomfort. At juice basin in Asbury Park & Montclair, NJ, we are witness to body healing through fresh organic plant based liquids and whole foods.  Our client consultation determines which customizeable approach works best for individual lifestyle demands and physical challenges.  We believe today’s societal demands such as; long work hours, hard partying sessions and aggressive fitness extremes require each of us to educate and manage our individual healthsyle awareness otherwise the consequences can be dire.

A USDA organic juice cleanse works to reboot the body’s elimination, absorption, and restoration processes.  This efficient delivery of nutrients is quickly absorbed into the blood stream, oxygenating the blood, alkalizing the body’s ph and supplying all organs generous clean energy without taxing them.

What you can expect:

Day one is usually joyful since most of us are excited to start something new and our commitment is at its peak.  Day two is the most challenging since toxins are now leaving the body creating a sluggish and annoyed sense of self.  Day three the body and mind are more determined as a feeling of achievement and sense of bodily lightness is realized.

How to get started on an organic juice cleanse:

  1. Mindful Hydration:  Be sure to drink plenty of alkaline water (simply add a little fresh lemon to your water to increase alkalinity) throughout the day, take time throughout the day to notice your stress level and your breath and make adjustments if possible, get out and get active—even if you only have a few minutes to spare, repeat the next 2 days.
  2. Choose a juice basin cleanse that fits with your goals. The products from juice basin compromise cleanses that are categorized based on the type of cleanse and its benefits, such as “lean” for a less caloric intake, “restorative” for a power-packed cleanse and “custom” which is a cleanse created with the individual in mind.
  3. Plan for the cleanse. You can schedule your cleanse with the change in seasons or cleanse more frequently by setting aside the same block of days each month. Additionally, you should plan to start your juice basin cleanse during a long weekend or extended time off from work as cleanses typically last 3-5 days.
  4. Adjust your food intake in advance. At least one week prior to the cleanse, increase your intake of water to maintain an ideal state of hydration and start cutting down on your consumption of caffeine, dairy, sugar, and wheat. Do not consume processed foods, meat or drink alcohol for the 2 days prior to the cleanse. Instead, focus on a raw foods diet or vegan diet.
  5. Speak with your doctor. If you have a medical condition, it’s wise to consult with your doctor before starting the cleanse. Once your doctor says you are ready to begin, you may want to consider a less intensive cleanse, like juice basin’s “juice til night.”
  6. Drink the juice on an empty stomach. As some individuals cannot tolerate an all-juice cleanse, a helpful tip is to drink the juice before ingesting food to increase the absorption of the nutrients in the juice and trigger a sensation of fullness thereby reducing the amount of food that is eaten.
